Olive Columns
The image displays the "Olive Columns" environmental sculpture by Israeli artist Ran Morin.
The sculpture is located in The Park of the Olives near Kibbutz Ramat Rachel, at the edge of Jerusalem.
It consists of three towering columns, approximately 11 to 15 meters high, with a living olive tree planted at the top of each.
A sophisticated, non-visible irrigation system was developed by the artist to sustain the trees in their elevated position.
Completed in 1991, the work is a prominent landmark in the park, which offers views of the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea.
The sculpture symbolizes peace, rootedness, and resilience.
